Despite the immense repertoire, true violin-piano duos are rare. An Academy has been held in Lausanne every summer for more than thirty years in order to awaken interest in the art of the sonata. After a week of intensive courses, the best of the ten duos attending is awarded a prize that includes an invitation to perform at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival. Born in Riga in 1995, Yevgeny Chepovetsky studies with Boris Kushnir in Vienna and in Graz as well as composition with his compatriot Peteris Vasks. He has been a member of the Karklina Trio since 2014. Born in Erevan in 1990, Levon Avagyan has studied with Milana Chernyavska in Graz since 2010. He has been a member of the cultural project Kammerton in Berlin since 2008.
