For the third chapter of his residency, Andreas Ottensamer has invited one of Vienna's most iconic ensembles to Saanen: the Wiener Sängerknaben. Founded in 1498 by Emperor Maximilian I, this outstanding boys' choir has over the years acquired the status of a true myth, training within its ranks future musical giants such as Michael Haydn and Schubert, and collaborating with Biber, Mozart and Bruckner. Today, comprising some 100 choristers, it gives nearly 300 concerts a year and also runs a school, where some 250 children receive a comprehensive education in the magnificent Baroque setting of the Augarten Palace.
