Thanks to the Eurovision and its famous «brass» theme tune, everyone is familiar with the first few bars of his Te Deum. But what else do we know of Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s works? Led by one of the very best specialists of French Baroque music, Hervé Niquet, this concert is an ideal opportunity to «catch up» on the works of the Sun King’s second favourite composer – after Lully and his ballet-comedies on texts by Molière –, Master of the grand religious ceremonies of a solemn and magnificent end of reign.
