Year after year, Sir András Schiff focuses on the essential in his recitals: a return to the cornerstones of the classical repertoire. In 2018 he will take on the second book of Johann Sebastian Bach’s magnificent “Well-Tempered Clavier”. The complete title of this work is in itself a wonderful programme description: “The Well-Tempered Clavier, or Preludes and Fugues through all tones and semitones […] for the benefit and practice of young musicians desirous of learning, as well as for the entertainment of those already versed in this particular study.” Young musicians who in the first line were of his own spirit, his sons!
