Ivan Monighetti, Cello
He was the last master student from the legendary Moscow cello class and is now professor at the Gstaad String Academy; he pays homage to his mentor and teacher Mstislav Rostropovich on the 10th anniversary of his death.
It is now already ten years since Mstislav Rostropovich, the most celebrated cellist of the 20th century, passed away. He inspired the composition of numerous masterpieces, and his spirit remains both a symbol of openness and a guardian of tradition. Thus the last student from his legendary Moscow class, Ivan Monighetti – who also is one of teachers at the String Academy – has chosen to pay homage with a programme featuring a dialogue between Bach and Gubaïdulina, between the past and the present.
