Chamber Music

Monday, 7 August 2023
7.30 pm, Zweisimmen Church

In addition to hosting three programmes every year (for the upcoming three Festival editions under the banner of “Change”) as part of the “Music for the Planet” concert series, Patricia Kopatchinskaja still manages to make time for a breath of chamber music with a programme as exceptional as herself! With two long-time partners, she honours the famous Contrasts written by Béla Bartók for his compatriot, violinist Joseph Szigeti, and jazz clarinettist Benny Goodman on very fast-paced Eastern European melodies, as well as the much rarer Trio by Paul Schoenfield, a contemporary American composer known for his ability to combine traditional music and classical forms – in this case the Hasidic heritage of which he is said to be a true scholar.
