A globetrotter at heart, Daniel Hope loves nothing more than to take the audience with him on his musical wanderings. Among the latest destinations performed: America. America is a land of opportunity but also a place of welcome for many uprooted people, as was the case with his great-aunt in the thirties, fleeing persecution by Nazi Germany. It is to her that the violinist pays tribute in this new programme, simply called “America”, in which he brings to life the music of exiles such as Hanns Eisler, Erich Zeisl or Miklós Rózsa, of travellers passing through like Dvořák or Ravel, and of “must-haves” like Gershwin or Copland.
