Concert in replacement for the orchestra concert of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and Julia Fischer (violin/conductor) due to travel restrictions

Sunday 18 July 2021
6 pm, Gstaad Festival Tent

Prize winner of the Menuhin Competition in 1995, at the age of twelve, she made a great impression on the Master and won the Eurovision Competition for Young Musicians the following year. Julia Fischer is one of the world's most renowned violinists today. Following an unforgettable carte blanche at Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy 2012, she is back in the mountains she knows so well – having travelled to Lenk as a child every summer to attend classes given by her teacher Ana Chumachenco. Fischer will be sharing the stage with two young, upcoming artists for whom she assumes the role of “godmother” (as Yehudi Menuhin once was a supporting figure to her at the beginning of her career): Cellist Friedrich Thiele (who gained international fame through the ARD Competition 2019) and pianist Robert Neumann (who will again be a guest at the Festival for a «Jeunes Étoiles»-recital in the Gstaad Chapel on 21 August).
